    2. To deal with this extreme cold, the peasents added potatoes and corn to their diet. They were made in stews, and soups. The warming provided many calories to help the people fight off cold. They traveled in sleighs. They wore heavy clothing to conserve body heqat.
    3. No, i do not think it has become less singificant. Whether or not they have more technology, they still have to deal with the cold one way or another. There is no way around that. Altough, they do have more methods to help cope with the weather.

  6. Russia's climate is very cold and harsh. Some of the things that make the winters so bad are freezing cold temperature, high winds, and a landscape that added to the power of both of them.
Even though the climate was bad this didn't stop them from doing the things that needed to be done. First they would wear thick fur and and robes to keep insulated. Otter was the most common used because of its ability to keep warm and dry. They aslo used sleighs to get around and still played games in the cold.
Yes i do because the way the biuldings are much more advanced in the insulation and the technology in which they are made. Also the advances in clothing and vehicles allows the people of Russia to get where they need to go.

  7. Russia has severe winters. In Moscow snow falls in mid-October and lasts until mid-April. The temperatures have been as low as 90degrees below zero in Siberia. Russia had methods to cope with this harsh environment. Some of which include: Adding potatoes and corn to their diet to use in nutritious foods such as soups or stews. Heavy hats, fur trim on robes, and leggings were worn to help conserve body heat. To travel in the winter, the wealthy traveled in Troika. Troika was a sleigh pulled by three horses. Also the people insulated their houses with moss between the logs to trap in heat. NO, i do not think that we still have the these climatic factors due to all of our modern technology.

  8. Most of Russia lies in the northern part of the world, and further away from the equator and warm weather. This is one climatic feature, another is that it is cold most of the year.
Some methods for keepinig warm in the cold were heavy, wool clothes. Another was using double-panes of glass for windows and suffing moss betwteen the logs of the house.
Yes, for example humans used to have to keep watch over the fire at night to keep warm. Now we have heaters, so that has gotten easier.
Also in very hot weather humans had to deal with the weather or stay in the shade, but now we have air conditioning.

People would insulate there houses with moss by stuffing it between the logs. to travel in winter the wealthy used what they called Troika a three horse drawn sleigh.
3 I beleive that the winters are the same but with more techonolegy the russians make the winters seem easier and they are cause of the coats and heater an better insulation.

    2. The Russians didn't have technology but they did have food. Russian peasants added potatoes to their soups and stews. This kept them warm and also gave them lots of calories. On the outside the Russians used heavy hats, heavy robes with fur trim, and leggings that would help them to conserve their body heat. To insulate their houses the Russians used moss to put in the cracks of their wooden houses for insulation. They used double paned windows, shutters to cover the windows, and had steep roofs all to help conserve their heat.
    3. Yes. I believe that technology such as thick insulation in a house has greatly increased how they deal with the cold. A different way to think about it is that they can now get log splitters for firewood, decreasing the amount of time spent outside. They can also have a heated home through electricity or propane. They can now get hot water any time they need it such as a hot shower to warm up.

  19. In Russia there are mountains in the south obstructing the flow of warm air masses from the Indian Ocean and the plain of the west and north makes the country open to Arctic and Atlantic influences. The climate affects where and how long people live and work, what kinds of crops are grown, and where they are grown. In regions of permafrost, buildings must be constructed on pilings, machinery must be made of specially tempered steel, and transportation systems must be engineered to perform reliably in extremely low and extremely high temperatures.during extended periods of darkness and cold, there are increased demands for energy, health care, and textiles. I think the climate had a lot to do with the development because they might not be able to get some of the resources that they need because of the weather.

  20. 1. The climatic features of Russia were cold in the winter time and families didnt have alot to shoose from when things got rough most were limited but some were stocked up.
    2. Russian's methods for coping with their enviroments were good because they were so used to building shelter for themselves when it got bad because every winter is a bad winter. They all work together to build shelter come up with food keep littler ones the warmest...ect.
    3. Yes, I do think climatic factors have become less significant with technological progress. because obviously were not living back then in the old days where there wasnt much when things were going good but today there is alot better materials for shelter and the economy is better so everything is up graded.
