Explain the causes and results of the English Civil War.

  1. charles offended puritans by upholding the ritual of the anglican church. in 1637 charles tried to force the presyterian scot to accept a version of the angilcan prayer book.those who remained loyal to charles were called royalists or cavliers. on other side were purtain supporters of parliament. because these men wore their hair short over their ears cavaliers called them roundheads.

  4. Charles tried to force the Prebyterian Scots to accept a version of the Anglican prayer book. They had the people that were with the king, and they were called Royalist. The people that were against him were called Roundheds. Oliver Cromwell held the king prisoner, so the roundheads won and Oliver became king.

  5. Causes: Charles tried to arrest Parliament's leaders after signing the Petition of Right and after Parliament passed a law to limit royal power.

    Results: Oliver Cromwell became ruler till 1659. Charles I was brought on trial for treason against Parliament and sentenced to death. Cromwell abolished the monarch and the House of Lords.

  7. well it all started when Charels wanted his country to fallow one religion then the parliment passed a law to limit royal power in autumn of 1641 when january 1642 came Charels tryed to arrest the leaders of parliment but the escaped so charels fled to London and raised an army where the people where loyal to him.Charels was exicuted and oliver Cromwell held the riens of power he abolished the monarchy and the house of lords he established common wealth a republican form of government.

  8. ccauses-charels wanted ALL his kingdom to follow one religion and the scots rebelled and formed a large army and threatend to invade Englang charels needed money and ther only way he could get it was through parlament and the refused and limited his power, he fled to london and formed a army but the south faught back
    result-oliver cromwell took over the roundhead army and they began to take an advantage,charels was sentenced to death for treason and cromwell took over the power in england

    As a result of the English Civil War the roundheads won the war and also they took King Charles 1st and beheaded him.

  14. Charles the first tried forcing the Presgyterian Scots to accept a version af the Angelican prayer book. The Scots rebelled, and Charles needed money, giving Parliament a chance to oppose him.
    Paliament passed laws to limit power of the royals. As a result Charles tried arresting members of Parliament, causing the English Civil War between supporters and opponents of King Charles.
    The results of the war were Charles was sentenced to death. Oliver Cromwell gained the reins of power.
