The ruler must take the thoughts and ideas of his people. He should not make any decisions that the people would dislike and posibly make them angry. So in a way a ruler workers for his country like a servant.
ReplyDeleteThe people had a right to be able to voice their oponion about the government. Alot of the people talked about the enlightment ideas like:Power should come from the poeple(Locke), Seperation of powers(Montesquieu), A Direct democracy( Rosseau), Free speech, religous toleration( Voltaire), and Accused have rights( Beccaria). The Declartion of Independence and Bill of Rights have most of these.
ReplyDeleteIt gave people the idea that they also had the right to have a say in the government bringing up the enightened despots. Such as Rousseau who worked for individual freedom and John Locke who thought all people should have individual rights and freedoms. They all thought that the monarchy wasnt really the way to go. And that brought up conterversy.

ReplyDeleteThe ruler should listen to the people. He shouldnt make very many decisions without the people at least knowing. And the people pay the ruler so the people should get to choose the ruler.

This gave people the idea that they had the right to have a say in the governments despots that where brought up. Like John Locke who thought that people should have individual rights and freedoms, and also Rousseau that fough for the freedom of people. They thought that having one monarcy that ruled them was not the smartest thing to do because of them inheareting the thrown, they though f voting them in.
