Treaty of Versailles (Blog #33)

After winning the war, the Allies dictated a harsh peace settlement that left many nations feeling betrayed. These hard feelings left by the peace settlement helped cause World War II.


Your Assignment:


1.) On page 861 study "The Treaty of Versailles: Major Provisions"
2.) Which column shows limitations on Germany's colonial power and name specific limitations.
3.) Which column shows limitations on Germany's military power and name specific limitations.
4.) How did these provisions against Germany make ordinary German citizens feel about the treaty?

    2.Territoral Restrictions-Germany Surrdenders all its over sea colonies.
    3.Military Restrictions-Germany had to have a certain size army.
    4.They did not like it becasue accrding to the war quilt they had to pay back money which was probably taxes.

    2.Territorial Losses, Germany returns Alsace-Lorraine to France; French border extended to west bank of Rhine River, Germany surrenders all of its overseas colonies in Africa and the Pacific.
    3. Military Restrictions, limits set size of the german army, germany prohibited from importing or manufactoring weapons or war material.
    4. they felt bad about it, they felt bertayed.

    4)They disliked it because Germany lost its place as a power and the were in debt because they had to pay the Allies 33 billion dollars so the citzens of Germany would have to pay more taxes

    2) Terrritorial Losses- They would have to surender all of Germanys ocerseas colonies in Africa and the Pacific.
    3) Military Restrictions- Limits on the size of the German army, prohibited form importing or manufacturing weapons or war material, and forbidden to build or buy submarines or have an air force.
    4)In particular the war-guilt clause, left a legacy of bitterness and hatred in the hearts of the German people.

    4.sole responsibility for the war placed on germany shoulders. germany forced to pay the allies 33 billion in reparation over 30 years. so they did not like it
