Interactive World History Topic (Blog #7)

I am going to open it up for debate on whatever topic you want to blog about. Pick a WORLD HISTORY related topic and state your opinion/thoughts on that topic. Your topic could be tied to anything that is happening in the world today and relate it back to what took place in history. Then look around at your classmates blogs and comment/reply to their post. Agree/disagree, let them know your opinion/thoughts on their topic. Make sure you pick out 2 of your classmates and respond to their post. (You will get 1 point for your post, and 1 each for your responses to your classmates.) Good luck!

Due: Sunday 10/10/10 by no later than 11:59 p.m.

  1. 1. The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the United States. The Constitution is the framework for the organization of the United States government and for the relationship of the federal government with the states, citizens, and all people within the United States. Then again we still use it today. We use it to make laws and for the right sentence to charge a criminal. I think its amazing how something SO LONG AGO in September 17, 1787 is still being used for 223 years.

  2. well for my topic i'm going to talk about absolute Monarchy. in my opion i think absolute monarchy is a bad thing because they people have no say in anything. the ruler gets to say whatever he wants. and he can impose a whole bunch of taxes and choose laws that may be good or bad. so again i think absolute monarchy is a bad thing.

  3. 1. I'm going to talk about finational problems. In the past we have had a few experinces that showed we were in debt. Such as the Great Depression. I believe things need to change soon before we get further in debt. America is getting worse with its money. Being in debt will make us weak and vulnerable. If we get into another war, this will damage us horriably.

  4. 1.) There were many things that happened in England that our constitution is based off of. The Petition of Right and habeas corpus were both important documents that helped with the development of a constitutional monarchy, which limits the rulers power. Our constitution and our democracy are based off of these documents.

  5. There are some things that the olden days and now-a-days have in common. One is that then and now have wars. Right now we are in the middle of a war. and Back then they had the 30 years war and the 7 years war.

  6. We started the war in iraq in 2003 and it is now 2010. 2010-2003 = 7 years this i compare to the 7 years war. Please discuss...

  7. Back when a monarchy was the main form of government absolute monarchs would just take complete control of a country. They were able to do so when countries were struggling and there was instability. This made it very easy for them to take complete control of the country. Also, once they had the higher nobles on their side it was easy for them to have complete control and madke it so everyone was below them. At this point the were Absolute Monarchs and had complete control of the country.

I thought this is very similar to the way any country acts during a time of struggles. Whether we want it or not, during rough times the government makes more decisions and gets more involved in the control of our government. This makes decision making faster and also makes it easier to run things for the government. However, these are only short-time fixes that will actually hurt the country and give the government too much power in the longer run.

History does repeat itself so I think that we the people of America should do everything to prevent our government from having too much control. This includes hard times or else we will end up with a monarchy which is exactly what our government is set up to prevent.

  9. 1. i think that the constitutional monarchy is a smart idea because without it there would be alot of conflict and nobody would be able to help make the right desisions and make the world a better place. the difference between the 2 is that an ablolute monarchy is somebody who is in ablolute control and gets to decide everythign by himself. and a constitutional monarchy is somebody who is not in absolute control although he is in most of the control. there are many different people in control and help with the different decicions so the rueler has a little more to fall back on. if we didn't do this every president would have to much power and want to take over the world also.

  10. I think that William of Orange is the leading example in why the Constitutional Monarchy is how it is today. William of Orange took the time to lead his army into London in 1688 and overthrow James the II. After that, William and Mary vowed to recognize Parliament as their partner in governing. I doubt that the Monarchy they have in England would be anything like it is today without William of Orange stepping in and taking some control and leadership.

I also believe that the Constitutional Monarchy is a great idea because if rulers could do anything they wanted without someone else approving it, there would be so much conflict and problems. Not everybody loves the decisions they make.

  11. The Petition of Right is what my thoughts and opinion will be on .The reason I chose this top was because it is used in our laws today. The four points that go with this right is you would not imprison subjects without due cause. The second point of this law is you would not levy taxes with out Parliament's consent. The third point of this law is you would not house soldiers in private homes. The forth point of this law is you would not impose martial law in peacetime. This is good in my opinion because if Parliament wouldn't have put their foot down then who knows what would our government would be like now.

  12. Transportation
The first deveolpment was the steam engine. It was in 1705 coal miners were using steampowered pumps to remove water from deep mine shafs. Water Transportation, steam could be used for propel boats. Robert Fulton made the steamboat. They used them to transport both raw materials and finished goods. And transportation today, we have trains, boats and trucks to transport goods, and transport people. And we also have cars to use for everyday transportation.

  13. 1. The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II. The timing of the Great Depression varied across nations, but in most countries it started in about 1929 and lasted until the late 1930s or early 1940s. It was the longest, most widespread, and deepest depression of the 20th century. In the 21st century, the Great Depression is commonly used as an example of how far the world's economy can decline. The depression originated in the U.S. Starting with the fall in stock prices that began around September 4, 1929 and became worldwide news with the stock market crash of October 29, 1929 (known as Black Tuesday). From there, it quickly spread to almost every country in the world. it related now days because we just got out of one , we are now trying to come back from the downfall of the world.

  14. From Gatling to Gat - In the 1860s the Gatling gun was invented. It was a very revolutionary weapon in its time. Little do people know that the Gatling Gun was the forerunner for the modern day machine gun. Ever since its invention, there have been 100s of types of machine guns that followed. Now one of the most used weapon in our peace keeping and modern warfare are automatic firearms. And it is all because of the invention of the Gatling Gun.

  15. The habeas corpus gave every prisoner the right to obtain a writ or document ordering that the prisoner be brought before the judge to specify the charges against the prisoner. that rule is still mostly in effect today.

  16. Lacey, i agree with your comment. We do need to change in debt soon before it gets worse

  17. Kacee, i agree the wars are something we have in common with our past.

  18. Dear Lacey! :) I just thought i would tell you that i totally agree with your comment! bc if we wait we will get deeper in dept. :)

Dear Cassidy! :)I agree with yours as well because, as the years go along, transportation is improving and changing.

  19. Lacey.
I agree because the taxes keep increasing therefor the debt keeps increasing. But yet inventors keep inventing HELPFUL things that poor people could really use but they cant afford.

  20. Dear Lacey I do agree with you. If we don't watch it we will be in very big truble with our money sitions.

  21. To my faithful yet naive friend,

Grant, I have to disagree. I think that the 7 years war was much more pointless and bruteless than the war we are fighting now. In the 7 years war, they fought and fought for absolutely nothing and learned nothing for a lesson. At least with the war now, we are fighting for our freedom and we are fighting because we have a right to go to work and not be scared of getting bombed.

  22. Dearest Bre,
I disagree with your opion about absolute monarchy. The reason being that it will keep everything in order.

    Dearest Cassidy,
I like your subject. Transportation is very important. The economy needs transportation to support its busy people with trading.

  23. Cassidy.
The transportation is better today than it was yesterday because everyday we get closer and closer to a better/efficient/affordable vehichle.

  24. Dear Lovely Lacey :)
I agree with you, about how the economy is getting worse in debt, and that hopefully it will change before it gets worse!
    Dear Beautiful Kacee :)
I agree, good point on the wars..because we learned about them and we are having one right now!

  25. Haden- i agree with your coment about the constitution because we still follow it today in the united states.

lacey-I agree truely about the finantional problems of the past and of now because we just kinda got out of one and if we get to that point again we will have a termendous downfall.

  26. Grant: I thought you had a good blog. It was interesting. I agree with your suggestion.

Tanner: I disagreee with your blog.William of orange didn't just have nothing to do and decided to overthrow James II like you made it sound.

  27. Riley: I agree with that hair brained theory of yours all in all you have a good blog post (except for the fact that it made no sense). keep doing what you do and maybe your talent will rub off on the rest of us.

J DOG: I agree with your theory about your topic because it helped us win wars. hopfully some of your general knoledge about stuff will rub off on the rest of us.

  28. bre z although you make a good point that absolute monarchy is a bad thing in general, you forget that some absolute rulers did great things for there countries. they helped people in some ways and sometimes turned countries completely around. I agree with you but you must remember that the weren't ALL bad.

JoshuaP I also agree with you but I think you should have more specific facts. Specifically there are 95 total models of machine guns known to man.

Levi L. you also should add that many other things added to the making of our constitution and laws.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dear Bre I agree with you. The Absolute Monarchy is a very bad thing to have because they spend all of every ones money.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Reply to Bre: Absolute monarchy can be harmful to countries if the ruler doesn't know how to lead a country fairly. But just like any leadership role, it is set to bring guidance and lead a country. Some reasons why Absolute Monarchy is good are because, say the people do not know what is right for themselves. Another reason is just to create a very strong government. Absolute leadership countries have very strong governments, look at North Korea for example.

Reply to Kacee: I believe that war is a nature to all humans. We had wars and we will always have conflicts like such.

  31. tanner. I to think that having a constutional monarchy is a good idea because with on person leading there is a possibility that this one persone will try to take over the entire country.
josh. I totally agree on what you just said. the gatling gun was one of the most creative designs back then. I can see how the invention of the gatling gun inspired people to make more machine guns. I think that the history books should have a spot for this when it took place.
