With the great fear sweeping through France and the Revolution fully at hand many people were eventually put to death because of their opposition.

DeleteI knew there were a lot of trees but not this many! The airport is nice. They even have a guy handing out paper towels, mints, and little cups of mouth wash. All of that is right next to his tip jar!

ReplyDelete2) What this quote is basically saying is that without terror you have no virtue and without virtue you have no terror. They basically even out. They help each other out, according to him. In Maximilien's eyes you need both in order for a government to succeed.
3) The urban poor and middle class obviously did not respect where the revolution was heading. The revolution was meant to help them, but it ended up going the totally opposite direction. Many were killed and the reform for them was basically dismissed.

The large number indicated that those classes were against the ruler in the revolution. They were fighting him and did not believe in the ways that they were following at the time. They were fighting for their rights and for their opionion to be heard and thats not what the king wanted for his states. He killed them off hoping it would solve the problem.

2)He explains that virtue and terror are connected. He justified his use of terror by suggesting that it enabled French citizens to remain true to the ideals of the Revolution. Therefore, you cannot have virtue without terror.
3)It displayed that the execution of so many from the lower class was started by the terror. Robespierre was a dictator, he didn't care about the people. He was soon thought of as an enemy.
