With this being the last Blog of the semester, I thought we would do something fun!

Write a letter to Santa Clause and tell him if you've been naughty or nice. Also include a list of what you want for Christmas. Pick a Current Events Topic (Blog #10)

Pick a current event and relate it to world history. Also, state your opinion/thoughts on the current event. Your topic could be tied to anything that is happening in the world today and relate it back to what took place in history. Then look around at your classmates blogs and comment/reply to their post. Agree/disagree, let them know your opinion/thoughts on their topic. Make sure you pick out 2 of your classmates and respond to their post. The Scientific Revolution (Blog #6)

In the mid-1500's, scientists began to question accepted beliefs and make new theories based on experimentation. Such questioning led to the development of the scientific method still used today.

Atomic Bombs Dropped (Blog #30)

American supplies and troops began to make a difference in the war by late 1942. But it would take over two more years of hard fighting to defeat the Axis powers. The Allied invasions of North Africa, Italy, and France and the fierce bombardments of German cities forced Germany to surrender in May 1945. In the Pacific, meanwhile, the United States seized Japanese held islands, including the Philippines. Atomic attacks devastated Japan, and it surrendered in August 1945.

Using the sudden mass attack called the blitzkrieg, Germany overran much of Europe and North Africa. Hitler's actions set off World War II. The results of the war still affect the politics and economics of today's world. (pg. 925, 32.1)

While World War I was extremely costly, staying prepared for the possibility of war today is also expensive.

1)  Research the defense budgets of 3 different countries.  Name the 3 countries that you researched.
2)  Examine how much money each country spends on defense and state the dollar amount that each spends.  Also, tell what percentage % of the overall budget such spending represents.
3)  State your opinion on whether the amounts spent for military and defense are justified.
